Elizabeth Taylor Interviewed by Edward R. Murrow (1957)

The world mourns the loss of another legend today.  Elizabeth Taylor passed away after suffering congestive heart failure.

I wanted to share this interview with Elizabeth Taylor and her then husband Mike Todd.  She’s poised, witty, maddeningly beautiful and genuine.  At one point during the interview, Edward Murrow asks Taylor the following question:

“Are you going to continue making movies or just be a housewife.”

Elizabeth Taylor thoughtfully replies:

“I couldn’t really care less about making movies to tell you the truth.  I consider it much more important to be a good woman than a great actress.”

A good woman indeed.  Interview Part 1 can be found here.  Part 2 can be found here. RIP Elizabeth Taylor.

I simply wished to appreciate you once again. I am not sure what I would’ve used without the actual opinions shown by you over my subject. It has been an absolute daunting setting in my view, however , seeing this specialized form you resolved the issue made me to weep over fulfillment. I am just happier for the service and even have high hopes you really know what a great job you are always undertaking educating others using a web site. I know that you’ve never come across all of us.
